Should your glass be half empty?

A recent report was released claiming that the health benefits of drinking water, at least for already healthy people, may have been oversold. The findings might disappoint water-bottle-toting Americans (like myself) and relieve those who can never seem to down those eight glasses of water a day, widely recommended for our health.

You can read the report here: http://www.webmd.com/news/20080402/health-benefits-of-water-oversold

I understand that much of the basis behind this report is that we actually get a lot of the water our body needs from the foods we eat – if we are regularly eating a healthy, well-balanced diet. But I would bet that there are some days when we could all do better with our food choices. That is when having an extra glass in the tank would work in our favor. Often when people are thirsty, they reach for juice or soda, which adds empty calories and unnecessary sugars to one's diet. Water is a more refreshing, healthier option to quench thirst. So I would say to all Janes be sure to fill your glass to half full!

And for those of us living in warm climates during the summertime, it’s important to stay hydrated – even if you’re a koala.

120 DEGREES IN AUSTRALIA, IT WAS SO HOT FOR A WEEK THAT KOALAS STARTED TO ASK PEOPLE FOR WATER. IT'S NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE.

ONE WENT TO A HOUSE TO TRY TO HIDE FROM THE HEAT AND TO GET A BIT OF SHADE AND HERE IS WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE OWNER GAVE HIM SOMETHING TO DRINK.

I am also a big water drinker. I have cut out soda from my diet, but will grab sweet tea if I need a pick me up. That is a treat for me!

I've tried 'O.N.E.' brand Coconut Water. They were handing them out for free following a sporting event - a little strange at first - doesn't taste like anything else I've ever tried. It's really different but quite good and SOO refreshing!!

I've been hearing and reading a lot about coconut water as a refreshing way to hydrate and boost immunity. I've seen it recently at post race celebrations and they are a big hit with the athletes and very tasty. Anyone else tried it?

Read more at this site and if you try some be sure you get cocunut water and not coconut milk, which is high in calories and fat. holistic-nutrition.suite101.com/.../health_benefits_of_coconut_water

Water really is the only thing I drink. I have a soda on the rare occasion that I really need a pick me up. No matter what the report says I will still continue to drink water all day, it truly makes every part of my body better.

Water is all that I drink. You couldn't pay me to drink a soda, I don't know what made me this way but I don't like that they are trying to crush my happiness by telling me that I'm not being that healthy. This is one of my only healthy habits... I'm going to continue researching this to prove webMD wrong!

When I commit to those eight-glasses a day, I see and feel the results immediately.  I’m guaranteed, to drop a pound or two, my complexion looks better and my bladder functions more smoothly.  I just have to remind myself every day.  Some good days, some bad.  Check out this Evian video.  If water can make babies skate like this, what could it do for us? I am definitely one that struggles with those 8 glasses a day.  Actually, I'm beyond terrible at it.  I know that it's one of those things that truly becomes habit, I just can't get myself to start!

Those Koalas are so stinking cute!

I'm a huge water drinker too. I drink it from the moment I get up to the moment I go to sleep. I will drink the occasional diet soda, but I try to do so only occasionally. I also love a glass of V8 juice after my morning workout.

I love the koalas!

Those koalas are too cute!  I know alot of people who would be glad to hear that they may not need to drink so much water.  I'm used to drinking it now and often can't seem to get enough!  I drink diet soda with lunch and dinner but other than that I'm constantly guzzling water throughout the day.  At least the article says it doesn't hurt to drink alot of it!

I am a HUGE water drinker. I cut out the pop and juice and I feel so much better . Nothing beats a glass of cold water on HOT Florida days.

I can't believe these Koala's!!
