Long commutes come with divorce risk for women, Swedish geographer finds

Long commutes can help people build their careers, but they come with significant social costs, suggests research by Erika Sandow, a social geographer at Umeå University in Sweden. Couples in such arrangements experience a 40% greater likelihood of divorce, and the noncommuting partners often take a hit on their own earnings.
