I'll forewarn all you ladies that the video in this post is extremely graphic, morbid and will stick with you a long while. I saw this video last week. Although I thought it needed to be shared, I was also worried that it was too violent and may not set well with most. This morning they featured it on The Today Show and I figured if it is OK for national TV, it could and should be shared by a concerned woman (and mother) to another. If this video makes you or your children think twice about texting while driving, then please pass it along to everyone you know.
A lot of us do it. Actually, one in five of us do it. I do it while sitting at red lights. I've even done it with my six month old daughter in the car...shame, shame on me. Never, ever again. Texting while driving is fast becoming one of the biggest and deadliest epidemics on the road. More frightening, half of the texters on the road are between the ages of 16 and 24. Then why is it that only 16 states have put anti-texting laws in place? How many people, and in the case of this video babies, have to die before laws are in place to protect us from ourselves? The problem is becoming so widespread that the U.S. Senate is looking at legislation that will prohibit Federal highway funds to states that don't have anti-text laws in place. Hooray for government if they actually push this through!
I for one, pledge to not text while driving ever again. I'm also going out and buying a better headset that I will actually use. This video is haunting me...
