Well...maybe not a career, but at least a hobby that will earn us a little extra moolah!
Recently, my husband and I had a party for our first anniversary with about 150 people in attendance. Since we didn't invite many people at all to our wedding, this was our chance to have a big celebration (Okay it took us a year to have a reception, oops!). Anyways, we didn't have a wedding cake last year, and I really didn't want one for the party either. They are really gorgeous, but I was just not up for serving cake for two hours.
So, what came through? Cake pops! I made birthday cake, red velvet, chocolate, mint chocolate chip and classic yellow cake. They were extremely easy to serve, and a ton of fun! All you have to do is find a beautiful way to display them and people can help themselves. Our guests loved getting to try several different flavors and eating them like lollipops. No wasted plates. No giant pieces of cake to overindulge in (unless you eat 12). No committing to one type.
Well, as I'm writing this I'm waiting for a second batch of pops to chill. I'm making them for my girlfriends rehearsal dinner and I've had about 10 people email me and ask for recipes. I LOVE the idea of making them for weddings, showers, birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, football gatherings, etc.
My question to Janes: Do you think it's a good business venture? i'd love feedback, ideas, questions, etc.
xoxo
