I like to think of myself as a professional multi-tasker, world-traveler, earth-caretaker, mother, daughter, sister, wife on a spiritual journey. Not necessarily in that order and sometimes all at once.
I challenged myself on January 1, 2009 to loose 50 lbs this year. Its 6 months and I'm now more than half way to my goal! I've done every diet imaginable before this, used every tool, book and program there is. What's the difference this time? I'm doing it for me. Not for someone else's approval and not for some level of unattainable beauty. I kept a journal that helped keep me honest, I actually got back to weighing and measuring my food to make sure they were appropriate portions and I enlisted the aid of my doctor to ensure my methods were healthy and sustainable. So far, so good.
Hi Amy,
Just thought it was so strange that I have a friend here in Madison named Amy Laplante. Didn't think it was a very common name. Crazy.
thanks for making contact. Well done on the 30lbs! good for you. I started the Scarsdale diet 2 weeks ago hoping to loose about 10lbs. So far I've dropped 4.5. Slow, but getting there. Eating lots and lots of carrots - so many my skin is turning orange!! I've got a very fancy wedding to go to at the end of september and my outfit is still a bit too snug but as long as I hold back on the carbs I think I might be ok! You say you're a world traveller - me too - although it seems such a long time ago that I strapped on the backpack and headed off with my Lonely Planet and some immodium. The travelling I did which was mostly through asia and Australia/NZ was such a fantastic experience and I carry the memories of those times with me every day. Looking forward to hearing more about you.
All the best,
Una
