Shoe Shopping

Surfer. Roamer. Client.  Chances are, when it comes to buying shoes you're one of these.  We want to know, do you prefer to buy shoes online at a place like Zappos.com, walk the isles of a warehouse like DSW or have a department store associate help you find the perfect pair?

Then, rate your experience on a scale of 0 to 5.  0 says you hate shoe shopping, no brand gets it right.  5 means you love it, is it wrong to have a closet just for shoes?

When I'm at Kohl's, I try on shoes and take pics of the ones I like with my iPhone. Then go home and purchased them at Kohls.com b/c sometimes there are bigger discounts (and free shipping) on the website. I also like Zappos b/c of the great selection and customer service. Maybe twice a year, I'll pop into DSW. Overall, I really like shoe shopping!

Unless I'm going for a specific item, I get SO overwhelmed (and frankly impatient) by shopping online.  I do much better when I can see and feel my choices in front of me at a place like DSW.

I am a Roamer. I LOVE trying on shoes and I love it even more when I find a great pair for a bargain. TJ MAXX, Ross and Marshalls are great places to look. Shoe shopping for me is a 5.

I prefer to browse through shoes at a department store or a store like DSW. It is definitely something that I can't shop online for. I am very particular about the way shoes feel, because I prefer to wear flat sandals most of the time. I have to try shoes on and walk around in them before I can commit to the purchase.

Shopping, as far as I am concerned, is a competitive sport.  I love saving money, but 9 times out of 10, I've got to see it, feel it, smell it (if its cantaloup perhaps).  Part of the experience is being able to tell its quality which is sometimes hard to do online.

I think I want to go shopping at Marshalls with Jeanette and then hit Dillard's shoe department with Jenifer! It's true that I have found some good shoe finds at TJ Maxx, too. Good point!

I could get lost in the depths of shoes in my closet. Some that have been worn only once because they hurt so bad, but oh so cute and I can't get rid of them.  But I am not an online shoe shopper and don't want sales persons help. I go more for the Marshalls and TJ Maxx type stores.  I am not addicted to shoes or shopping - I am addicted to Marshalls.

I really appreciate a sales associate to help me find my size and color. I love the shoes at Dillard's! Great selection and they are very attentive to their customers.

When I was 20, 30 and 40, I loved it, then I turned 50...comfort won over fashion.  What can I say, I was a 5 and now I am a 3.  I love to see beautiful shoes and they really do make an outfit.  Too bad some hurt so badly and can ruin your feet.

Shoe shopping is my favorite kind of shopping! I think I'm a combination of a surfer and a roamer. I love to walk up and down the aisles of DSW. It takes a while to get through the store, but it is so much fun! I also like to browse around online. Shoes are actually the only kind of "wardrobe" shopping I like to do online because I know they'll always fit. For my wedding, I ordered 5 different pairs of shoes from Zappos so I could decide which I liked the best and then just shipped the others back.

I love BROWSING for shoes ONLINE.  I especially love that most of the shoes websites offer free shipping.  I am NEVER the same size, so I am always concerned about ordering it online,  paying for shipping .. and then the shoes don't fit.  There are so many options and sales online ... Some of my FAV sites are Piperlime, Endless, Shoes.com & Shoemall.  Even the department stores websites have better selections online...

I'm a total roamer as well. I usually end up picking up shoes here and there. Rarely do I go out for something specific. If I do...I get frustrated very quickly since that's the hardest time to find what you need.

Total Roamer. I never NEED shoes. Let's face it I must have a thousand pairs. But I do love them and I do buy them. But I enjoy the hunt. I love going to TJ MAxx and finding the hot, new, trendy pair of shoes for a discounted price. I call it treasure hunting and shoes are a top prize!

I am a DIY shopper, especially when it comes to shoes.  For one, I have one foot slightly larger than the other so I have to try on at least two sizes for every pair I like.  Secondly, I am one of those people who feels guilty for making a salesperson work and then not buying anything from them.  Finally, I like to take my time and try something on.  Walk away and think about it.  Come back and try again.  Then decide to buy or not.  I don't want any pressure during this process...from anyone.

More and more I'm a surfer. While I do love shoe shopping in stores (especially because the display almost is always my size), you can't find the variety that you can online. Shoe shopping gets 5 stars from me. If I could, that's all I would buy!

Since my shoes size is about the same as a small canoe I find it EXTREMELY hard to find shoes in stores like DSW and Dillards. They don't have my size when it comes to trendy, good quality, and relatively inexpensive footwear.

I am open to purchasing online through Zappos.com or Piperlie.com but i still find my choices limited.

I agree with Mari. I really love that online show shopping gives you options, but I always run into the problem of not being able to try the shoes on. I have a weird size foot and I am in between a 6 1/2 and a 7. I can usually get away with ordering sandals, but when I am looking for pumps or boot I have to go in-store.

I have to try shoes on before I buy.  Online shoe shopping is not my thing.  I do love both large department stores as well smaller boutiques.  My preference is to pick out the shoes and then have someone bring me the correct sizes.  My motto on shoes is that they always fit even when your cloths don't...hense, the reason why I have 30+ pair.

I have to try shoes on. I'm pretty sure my feet have shrunk in the last couple years and I'm always a different size depending on the brand. I don't really have a preference to a DSW style store or a Dillards... if the shoes are cute I'll shop there!

I'm definitely a roamer.  I love to shop without being bothered by an employee and I can't bring myself to buy shoes online because I can't try them on.

As far as how much I love shoe shopping, it's a 5!  Your feet are always the same size and shoes can make an outfit!
