Female baby boomers have more financial security heading into retirement than their predecessors did, a study from the Urban Institute finds. Two-thirds of females ages 47 to 56 will qualify for Social Security with their own earnings, compared with 44% of women born between 1936 and 1945. More baby boomer women also have their own retirement accounts and have earned more in their careers. But low- and middle income boomers will still have to rely primarily on Social Security during retirement, the study found.
