Testing the Ive Got A Great Idea
I think we need a Jane Nation Convention. I'd like to meet more Janes so that we can get more people blogging and telling us what's on their minds. We can have panels on career, fashion, family and finance. Booths, food, fashion shows, make-overs and product demos.
What do you think?
Are you a secret Dollar Store shopper? Have you ever had the urge to splurge where even your pocket change can make you feel rich? What about for those seemingly endless disposible items like matching party favors, paper plates, napkins and forks? What about needing a green t-shirt for St Patrick's day? Or a silly pair of socks for a Halloween sleepover? A travel toothbrush? An umbrella? Ever feel like you're paying too much?!?! Not at the Dollar Store!
I would like to see more brands mirror the Dove Real Beauty campaign. I get so tired of trying to order clothes online displayed on stick thin models. Why not provide actual pictures of women with different body types and give the user an option to match her body type? In turn, it'd be great if the brand would recommend the appropriate sizes, most flattering clothing items, etc. for YOU! Even better, if you could email a photo of yourself and the brand had an actual person/team dedicated to selecting fabulous attire for you … it would be like having your own personal shopper!
Funny tongue-in-cheek spot from new Cover Girl, Ellen Degeneres: "inner beauty is important but not nearly as important as outer beauty." A pretty clever approach by CG to make fun of themselves in the wake of Dove's highly buzzed campaign... www.youtube.com/watch
Just came across this site: http://stilltasty.com/ : Your Ultimate Shelf Life Guide - Save Money, Eat Better, Help the Environment! It's great that several products offer expiration dates (or sell by dates - which can sometimes throw people off as well - HOW LONG AFTER IS IT STILL OK TO CONSUME??) but for all those other things - for example I never know when to throw out old spices - here's a great guide on when to toss and how to keep things stored efficiently to make the most of it!
If this is out there, I haven't seen it. But my boys think more is better when it comes to bubble bath. I know for many of the latest kid mouth washes brands have utilized a top that can help you squeeze out a measured amount and then cuts off to keep the remaining product in the bottle. This ensures kids have the right amount to get the job done and encourages them to not be wasteful. I'd love to see a similar concept for not only children's bubble bath, but also for children's shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I like the idea of still being about to purchase a regular bottle size, but having the measuring top to make the product last longer.

this is a test
I like L'Oreal's RevitaLift products, but I'd really like to see the lotion's pump packaging replaced by tubes. When the product gets low, I can always snip off the end of a tube and get another couple of days worth of lotion. (I want my money's worth!) But with the hard plastic pump containers, there's product left inside I can't get to because the pump doesn't come off the top and the container is impenetrable. I won't buy RevitaLift anymore because I end up paying for product that gets thrown away.
Does anyone ever get upset that you can't use all that you paid for? When you buy cosmetics, lotions or even condiments, you can never get the last little bit out... or can you? Does anyone have a secret process they would like to share on how to make the most of your eye liner, hand cream or katsup?
Bye, bye bug spray. No more OFF! Simply rub dyer sheets on your body to fend off mosquitos. Better for the environment, your skin and hair are not sticky and you smell great! Enjoy!
It would be nice to be able to find a website that allows you to do comparison shopping (also known as competitive shopping) in one place. Edmunds.com does it for used cars. Fidelity does it for mutual funds. Wouldn't it be nice to have a website that would allow you to shop for groceries, cosmetics or even clothes from various retail outlets and compare prices, sales and discounts for that particular week?
Granola bar made with organic fruits and nuts.
I wish Home Depot or Lowes would accept old paint cans for recycling. I hate throwing them out with the trash.
Grocery Store Rewards Member - already exist, but it would be great if they would email you coupons based on your buying habits. Currently no customer customization.
I think companies should stop using paper / plastic bags and encourage consumers to use reusable bags. Grocery stores have done an excellent job at this, but it would be great to see other retailers doing the same thing. It could also be a way for companies to give back to the environment. Companies should get creative and come up with different designs for each season / holiday! Companies could offer incentives (10%) if a consumer does not use a bag or brings in their own bag!
Here's an idea...they should make it mandatory to have a CLEAN baby changer in EVERY public bathroom! Can't tell you how many bathrooms I've been in and out of looking for a place to put my squirmmy, messy little one.....urghh. :)
I would like to see some hair products that actually work! I have fine, thin hair and I have tried every volume, body, etc. product I can think of. Are there any out there that exist that do what they promise? Shampoos, flat irons, volumizing mousse, anything!
Let's have more pictures and more product featuring women of all sizes and shapes. I'm tired of seeing pictures of women who don't look anything like me or my friends. The intense pressure for young women to have the celebrity or toxic look is toxic and also degrading to women in general.
