Are you feeding your passions?

According to a new study from American Express, sixty-eight percent of those surveyed say that haven't decreased spending on their passions despite the economy.

The number one passion getting the most fuel?  Food!  Yep, 60% of us say we have not decreased our spending on food that not only feeds our bodies, but also our souls.  And more of us than ever, 8 out of 10 adults are watching cooking shows according to a new Harris Poll.

Other passions getting our money and time include electronics/gadgets, sports and fashion.

What about you?  Is food a passion for you?  Are you spending against it just like always?

I can attest to watching cooking shows - at my house kid tv is on from 4 to 5 but after dinner Food Network rules.  I also spend the bulk of my expendable budget on food - the make your own variety instead of dining out.  I think the poor economy makes people make choices - I choose Publix and Native Sun.  I do however, pay more attention to the buy one get one deals - something that is totally new in my house.

As my waistline can attest, I have not cut back on what I spend on food.  I'm feeding my passion and my face!  But being a single gal I find it easier and sometimes cheaper to dine out rather than spend money making a meal.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! ;)

And clothes are a big downfall of mine.  Cutting back?  Yeah, no, not so much.

I think the economy just made us be more aware of how we were spending our extra funds but haven't m issed out on family vacations or other fun trips like college football games or family weekend trips. But of course food is a big part of vacation time b/c who doesn't want to find new great places to eat!

I definitely haven't cut down on passion-spending--perhaps I'm subconsciously in denial of the economic circumstances : )

Things I keep spending on and always will regardless of the economy:

- Wine

- Traveling

- Cigars

- Buying Piano music (though I DO have to work on feeding this passion by sitting down to play more often!)
