Send a note, share a meal

In an age of digital everything, there is still nothing like a hand-written note stuck to a mirror, tucked into a briefcase or snuck into a lunch bag.  I try and sneak notes into my daughter's lunch box  just to let her know I am thinking about her.  I can tell she likes it because every so often she'll ask me why I haven't written one in a while. Apparently it isn't an embarrasment to her...yet.

Well, the folks at Kraft recognized the power of a personal note to cheer someone up or on as they stop mid-day to enjoy their lunch.  They've created a program in conjuction with their Lunchables brand called, "The Lunch Note Promise."  For every parent who promises to write a note and put it in their child's lunch, Kraft Lunchables will donate a meal to a child and their family through the Feeding America Program.  The goal is to get 100,000 promises and give 100,000 meals.  When I made my promise yesterday, the total was at 22,217.

Take time today to visit their website and register your promise.  It's just one more small way to make a big difference.

And you can do the same thing for your husband, friend or colleague...a co-worker may need a simple hello or thank you as much as a child. Human kindness is more appreciated than any of us realize. Thanks for reminding me to take some time to recognize those in my life who make it all worthwhile both at home and at work!

Love this! My mom used to write me notes on my napkin that she included in my lunch when I was younger. I loved getting the notes...it was such a nice way for her to remind me how much she loved me and how special I was.

What an awesome idea.  I used to get those notes from my mom...whenever she had time to pack my lunch.  I remember not wanting anyone else to see, but I secretly LOVED those notes.  Even if your child seems embarrassed by them, I bet they really appreciate it.

I had a friend who's mom used brown bags everyday for her lunch (which wasn't cool because you were supposed to have the latest and greatest lunchbox) BUT, everyone thought hers were awesome because her mom drew a different cartoon on them everyday.  What a cool mom!
