What is it like to live with Diabetes?

What is it like to have to monitor everything you eat and its impact on your body?  How does it feel to have to pierce your skin a few times a day?  Do you crave sweets?  Do you get thirsty?  Do certain aromas make you queasy?

I don't know the answers to these questions because I am fortunate not to have to live with Diabetes.  But nearly 24 million Americans could answer these questions and many others.  That's why the Diabetes Hands Foundation with support from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. are sponsoring the Making Sense of Diabetes video contest this year in support of World Diabetes Day, November 14.

From now until then, people over age 18 can submit a video detailing how Diabetes has impacted one of their senses--sight, sound, taste, smell, touch.  Simply upload your video at makingsenseofdiabetes.org.

The video contest is an awesome idea! It's a disease we hear about regularly but may not know the realities of. I look forward to learning more....

Very cool.  An interesting and engaging way to make this disease known.  It will be so cool to see these videos and get a better understanding of what life with diabetes is like.
