Clip or Click for Back-to-School?

It's back-to-school shopping season, and according to a new study conducted on behalf of the Newspaper Association of America, we will be clipping newspaper coupons more so than searching for deals on the Internet.  The MORI study reported that 73% of adults regularly or occasionally read a newspaper insert, and 82% took action as a result, either clipping a coupon or making a purchase.

I'm always skeptical of results that favor the sponsor; however, conversations with friends and observations of people in our lunch room perusing the inserts makes me think this study is legit.

What do you think?  Are you reading newspaper inserts before you go back-to-school shopping or any other type of shopping?  How much do you use the Internet to find deals offline?

I love seeing the savings when I check out at the grocery store so it's worth the time to go thru and clip the coupons.  The ones on-line seem to be a little harder to figure if they're legit or accepted and thus I don't go there for savings very often.  My young daughter loves to see the savings too...she's so proud to announce how much we save at the end -- it's a great habit to start at any age!

I always look at the Sunday newspaper inserts before shopping for the week.  I rarely look online for anything offline--if I shop online, I usually purchase online. Only exception is if it's a big purchase where I'll do research online first & purchase in-store.
