Sometimes brands just get it right. They see the intersection of interest and opportunity and capitalize on it in a way that shows they truly understand the people they are trying to reach and what matters to them.
A great example is the new Omni Flips for Summer promotion. People who stay at a Omni Hotel anywhere in North America for a weekend before September 6 get the free use of a Flip Ultra video camcorder during their stay to record their memories. Before they leave they can upload their videos to their own computer or use the Omni Business Center computer for free to save their footage to a jump drive.
Talk about interest meeting opportunity. Most people who stay at a hotel over the weekend are doing so for personal reasons. They are escaping the ordinary, even if just for 48 hours. They are also usually traveling light, and may choose to leave (or in my case, forget) the camera or camcorder at home. What a great opportunity to help them remember their stay long after they leave.
