Dairy Queen and Girl Scouts makes summer sweet for everyone

It seems only fitting that Dairy Queen® would support an organization that prepares young women to take charge of their destiny by teaching them life-building skills.

For the second year in a row the "queen of treats" is offering a Girl Scout co-branded Blizzard®, only this time they are doing it twice during the summer.  July's Blizzard of the Month is the Tagalongs® Peanut Butter Patties Blizzard Flavored Treat.  August will feature the Thin Mint Blizzard, the first treat they served last year more than 10 million times, making it the most popular limited time flavored Blizzard ever.

In addition, local Girl Scout troops are invited to schedule visits to their participating local DQ store during the week of July 20 to learn more about running a business and developing new products.

What do you do when you are craving a sweet, cool treat this summer?

Oh man...reading this makes me crave ice cream! I'm with Stephanie...I'm a fan of the Breyers Slow Churned Light. You'd swear you were eating the full fat ice cream. I've bought it a couple times since I've been pregnant and I like to add in fruit like peaches or blueberries with a little milk. It's heavenly. Another yummy pregnancy treat of mine is orange sherbert with milk. Ok...I need ice cream NOW!

I have to have something sweet every night.  I shouldn't admit this, but during my pregnancy I had ice cream almost every night.  Sometimes a bowl, sometimes a cone and the biggie was a homemade milkshake.  We even hit Dairy Queen twice!

Now that I'm trying to get the weight off and I tend to lean towards watermelon since it is in season.  And my new treat is low-fat vanilla yogurt with fresh blueberries.

I've been a Skinny Cow fan for years. But the frozen treats can get expensive if you eat them quickly, and at 100-200 calories each, who wouldn't go to the freezer more often? I make my own "treats" by taking two low-fat cinnamon graham crackers and putting a couple spoonfuls of fat free cool whip on one. I place the other cracker on top and then wrap the sandwich in aluminum foil. Pop in the freezer for a couple of hours and soon you will have a delish ”almost” ice cream sandwich.  Another great tip with these treats, the longer they stay in the freezer the softer the crackers become. I make a whole batch at one time.

When I'm trying to be good.... its a Skinny Cow treat, but when I want to be bad, its Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup ice cream.  Its a good thing I'm good most of the time.....

I'm an ice cream girl all the way.  I love getting the old fashioned vanilla soft-serve coated in the hard chocolate shell at the mom-and-pop creamy whip stands.  But when I'm craving it at home, I've found Breyer's Double Churned Light varieties taste great and don't leave me feeling guilty.

I'm all about the Edy's Drumstick ice cream...vanilla ice cream with mashed up drumsticks (i.e., cone, fudge, peanuts) in it. So delicious.

We usually keep some low-cal, low-fat sweet treats in our freezer for our sweet tooth cravings. Our favorite are the Weight Watchers cookies and cream bars. When we want to indulge, lately we've been obsessed with gelato. There are two gelato places near our house that we've been to more than I'd like to admit since the weather heated up. :) So delicious. I actually haven't been to Dairy Queen in the longest time. But the Thin Mint Blizzard is definitely something that would get me in!

I love Ben and Jerry's fudge, marshmallow, nut anything! It is just sinful! When I am reaching for a sweet treat, I usually don't count calories, I mean come on it's Ice Cream! I also love when Edy's does the seasonal Girl Scout Ice Cream, the Thin Mint is my absolute favorite!!

Tofutti fudge pops are soooo good and they're only 40 calories.  My mom was doing these crazy diets a few years back and I thought she was crazy for buying these but now that I've had one, I'm hooked.

When I'm calorie conscious...I reach for a no sugar added fudgesicle...40 calories and low in fat. LOVE THEM!

If I want to be bad...I go to Publix and pick up Chocolate Mousse Tracks and top it with Hershey's fudge sauce and Whipped Cream....I'm in a sugar coma after that. But it tastes so god!
