New Reclaiming Your Health Sistherhood hits home for this Jane

Jane Nation is all about the many life transitions women go through.  Some we experience once in a lifetime; others we seem to experience over and over again at different points in time.  That is definitely true for me when it comes to our new Sisterhood, Reclaiming Your Health.

I've tried to live a healthy lifestyle since I was 13 and discovered Jane Fonda while babysitting for a friend of my mother's.  For years, I bought into the "no pain, no gain" philosophy and drove my body to points of pain that still make me shiver as I write.  As I entered my thirties and had my daughter I came to the realization that pain isn't gain.  It's just pain. And I don't like pain.  I also looked back over my three decades on this planet and said, I have been on a diet for most of them.  It wasn't painful, but it sure wasn't fun to always obsess over what I ate.

As I entered my 40s I made a deal with myself that I wasn't going to diet ever again. I was going to love myself for who I am, not how I look.  And my goal would no longer be to get thin but instead to be healthy. That said, I'd sure love to lose about 10 pounds for the summer.  In year's past I would have crash dieted and run endless miles on the treadmill until I reached my goal in record time.  This time, I'm taking it one day at a time.  Trying to make smart choices more often than poor ones.  And I have a group of friends at work who are trying to do the same thing so we can encourage each other...and call each other out when we grab a candy bar instead of a Go Lean one.

Whatever your health goals, whether they are physical, mental, emotional or even spiritual your friends in the Reclaiming Your Health Sisterhood are there to cheer you on.  Join us, won't you?
