Take time to treat yourself today

Even though we are in the middle of a recession, many people are still splurging on the things they find important. Just because the economy is rough doesn't mean you have to miss out on an occasional massage or stop socializing over a meal with friends and family.

According to WebMD there are 7 indulgences that defy the recession and boost spirits; among these are sweet treats, entertaining at home and makeup. Even those who could afford a facelift are opting for the more budget-friendly fillers like Botox.

Check out 7 Splurges People Are Still Buying. These things might even help you lead a healthier, happier more balanced life.

Now, back to my once-in-a-while treat of coffee and a bagel at Paneras.

I think pampering yourself is the best way to feel good. I like to do at-home pedicures. It's an inexpensive but fun way to relax and be girly.

I could never give up pedicures.  It is my one thing solely for me and one of the only hours that I just sit and relax and let someone pamper me.  Thank goodness pedicures aren't just at high-priced salons/day spas anymore, and you can get them for a reasonable price and at convenient locations.

Love #6 Beauty School Drop-Ins.  Just checked to see what options we have in Jacksonville and there is a Paul Mitchell School that welcomes walk-ins.  Here's the info: Paul Mitchell The School - Jacksonville (904) 786-6250

I have heard that during tough economic times, lipstick sales go thru the roof. That's because lipstick is a small, affordable luxury, and we all know how good a new lipstick makes us feel!

If I don't have time to shop, there are 4 other things that do destress me: (1.) talking to a good friend (2.) listening to my music (3.) working out and (4.) spending a few minutes outside (or watching the rain..) We all need to take just a few minutes (at least) every day to maitain our health and sanity. I am going to try to remeber this on my busy days....

Totally agree with #7 - finding great ways to relax makes a difference in overall mental attitude and honestly I consider massages an investment for future health.
