Survivor 101 class would benefit women of all life stages

Survivor 101 “I sure wish there was someone to talk to about what I need to know to make the most out of life right now,” said the youngest member of our Seattle group and our national tour.  “We could use that, too,” echoed the other women in their 40s and 50s.  Each faced a new transition that came without guidelines or road maps.  For one, it was the challenge of shifting gears from career to wife, mom and construction engineer all within a short period of time.  Another was readjusting to life in the states after a couple of years abroad with her family.  Yet another was learning to live in an empty nest.

All agreed there is a dearth of useful, trustworthy information on a range of important issues from family dynamics to finances to fitness.  “Information is power,” said one of the women who recently lost a dear friend to breast cancer who was otherwise the picture of health.

They also agreed there is too much inappropriate information being thrust on young people and women about what is acceptable in terms of identity, sexual promiscuity, and appearance.

“We want real women and real role models for ourselves and our children to celebrate and learn from.”  Above all, they want companies who are willing to take that extra step to communicate—listen, learn and then lead—and to make each individual feel important and valued.
