Career important but not defining for young women of Birmingham

10197649 Career driven but not career defined was how the young group of women in their 20s talked about their current life stage.  This is particularly interesting given that a couple of those career paths were through the medical field where many hours and many dollars have been invested to get to this point.

"Faith and family come first," remarked one woman.  "Career comes last."   In between are hobbies and interests, friendships and fun.  Several were volunteers in causes dear to their heart.  One is an expecting mother trying to learn all she can about motherhood.  The others were very interested in her experience as they anticipate joining her ranks in the future.

"I want to be a part-time mom with full-time help," said one career-driven, but not defined woman.  "I'm encouraged that our generation is really blurring the lines between working mom and stay-at-home mom," said another.  That doesn't necessarily mean the battle lines will stop being drawn, however.  "Our generation is very opinionated."  "We will still argue over who is right and who is wrong when it comes to work vs. family."
