Hello Jane,
My name is Lisa Beatty and I am one of several women who will be sharing our point of view on how marketers and the media are doing at connecting with and covering issues relevant to women in their 20s through their 70s who are experiencing all types of life stage transitions.
The idea for Jane Nation was born out of my own experience facing multiple life shifts over the past two years. I had so many questions and so few answers. I needed resources I'd never known about before. I became interested in brands I'd never heard about and left some life-long brand companions behind.
As I began to talk to more women about what I was going through I realized I was not alone. While our life shifts may have been different our frustration with the resources and solutions (or lack thereof) available to us was the same. So it got me thinking that there has to be a better way. I figured if marketers could gain a truer, clearer picture of what women face as they go through life, they'd be willing to invest in solutions to help them. Both stood to gain a lot. The key was to move beyond one way communication to labels and stereotypes and into conversation and community with women as individuals and friends.
