2009 was a tough year but I think 2010 will improve slightly. I think businesses large and small will continue to cut back on spending, employment, etc. My one goal for this year is to watch my expenses, repair my credit and build a savings.

I'm usually optimistic, but at this point I'm trying to be realistic. My husband and I are going to continue to focus on saving money this year. What we've learned over the past few years is...you just never know what will happen and you have to be prepared for anything.

I think many businesses are still in the "tightening the belt" mode as a precaution to dealing with any future economic turmoil this year. It may hold steady, but there are no gurantees. Most consumers are also being more thoughtful with purchases and some say this helps while others say it hurts the economy. Overall I do think more people are paying attention to everyday expenses and doing what they can to build savings.
