2010 is here! We are excited for a whole new year and hope you are too. What have you promised to do this year? Share your New Year's resolutions below.
Like Lisa, I too make several resolutions that line up with mind, body and soul. I try to make them realistic. I would like to read more, get back to running and start a small group women's bible study. Wish me luck!
My goal is to get back into my pre-pregnancy jeans by my 30th birthday which is right around the corner (yikes - 2/22). I've been working out so hard and I'm hoping the hard work will pay off.
Last year's resolution was to read the entire Bible and it's the only resolution I have ever completely kept so I'm a little nervous to set a resolution this year. I want to keep living off the good energy of fulfilling a resolution instead of breaking one. I think I will resolve to resolve nothing.
Since this is my last year in my 20's I have resolved to be in the best shape of my life by the time I turn 30.
This is also the first year that I actually wrote down my goals. In fact, I taped them to my mirror to serve as a daily reminder! My biggest focus this year is to be as healthy as possible (and when I stepped on the scale a few days ago, believe me, it offered a lot of motivation!) I decided to give up one particular "bad" item per month. This month, I will not have a sip of alcohol and next month, I will give up chocolate. Although I do not plan to completely give up these monthly items indefinitely, it offers me a continuous challenge. Alcohol will be pretty easy but chocolate?! That’s going to be tough! My other goals are to travel more, attend church more, and start a new hobby. My sister is also getting married so my last goal is to help her plan the wedding of her dreams! I’m really looking forward to 2010 and have a good feeling that it is MY YEAR!
I did something this year that I’ve never done before. I wrote down my goals, reminders, thoughts, and general “stuff to work on” for 2010. I broke it up into categories: family and friends, career, home, finance and health. Under each category I wrote simple reminders that will help me be the person I want to be in 2010 and beyond. We all know the years tend to blend together, and I don’t want to be in the same place come Jan. 2011 wishing I had done things a little different.
Some bullets on my “To Work on in Twenty Ten” sheet include:
- Always remember why I married the man of my dreams
- Run less water while washing dishes
- Practice yoga at least 3x per month
- Stop worrying about the number on the scale
- Have 1-2 vegetarian days each week
We celebrated at home with friends who also have a tween daughter. As such, we didn't have alcohol, but instead toasted in the New Year with sparkling apple juice. It was great fun and a good example to our young girls that you don't have to have champagne to celebrate.
As for resolutions, I always make some relative to my mental, physical, spiritual and financial self. I don't ever achieve all I set out to, but at least I get further than if I didn't even try.
One goal I always make is to write more. Jane Nation is a great outlet for this.
Yes, my new year's resolution is that with the beginning of a new year I will be more positive!
