TIME Magazine just released a head-turning cover of a three-year old boy standing on a chair while being breastfed by his mother. Per TIME’s editors, the story that accompanies the provocative cover, about attachment parenting, was written to mark the 20th anniversary of the Dr. Bill Sears book on the subject. The goal of the movement was for moms to establish deeper and more prolonged physical bonds with their children.
Jamie Lynne Grumet, the woman featured on the cover with her son, is a mommy blogger at www.Iamnotthebabysitter.com. The site seems to have crashed, undoubtedly due to all the attention she and the cover have garnered. An advocate of attachment parenting, Grumet herself was breastfed until the age of 6.
